Planning and load class
The access duty determines the configuration
- Purpose, intended users and expected footfall.
- Height, lift pattern, landings and available footprint.
- Base condition, sole boards and bearing support.
- Ties, anchors, buttressing or design input where required.
- Correct HAKI manual and configuration data.
As a technical rule, the load class must be checked against the current HAKI stair chart and user guide for the specific system being used. The chart includes examples such as 1kN/m², 4kN/m², 5kN/m² and 7.5kN/m² stair options depending on the HAKI stair type and intended application.

Common questions
HAKI staircase FAQs
Is a HAKI staircase the same as a ladder bay?
No. A HAKI staircase provides stepped access using stair flights and landings. A ladder bay uses ladders.
Does a HAKI staircase need tying?
It depends on height, configuration, exposure, base condition and manufacturer data.
Can loads be guessed from another stair system?
No. Check the correct HAKI stair chart and user guide for the specific product.
Need a HAKI staircase assessed?
Send the access height, intended users, photographs or drawings and footprint restrictions so BlackFox can review the access requirement.
